About us

Bibliotheca Nostra is a magazine dedicated to contemporary issues of information science and bibliology, discussed both in theoretical terms (articles), as well as in its practical character (materials). Every issue presents, in a multi-faceted manner, a selection of problems associated with the culture of book, librarianship, editing and related sciences. In addition to the specialized scientific texts, the reports, discussions, reviews, and information about the events are published. Journal´s Editors, the Library of the Academy of Physical Education of Jerzy Kukuczka in Katowice, publishes articles and information about new acquisitions and major events of the Library´s circle in the section Materials, Collections, Events. This division makes a reference the history of the development of the quarterly. In its present form has been published since 2009. Previously, Issue 1 (2005) to Issue 17 (2009) – appeared as „Bibliotheca Nostra. Information Bulletin „.  In the years 2009-2019, appeared however, as „Bibliotheca Nostra. Silesian Scientific Quarterly ”.

The magazine was published in print and electronic version until 2017, currently, it’s only published in electronic version (http://www.bibliothecanostra.awf.katowice.pl/). The complete version is available in the Silesian Digital Library SDL (http://www.sbc.org.pl/dlibra).

Articles and materials are published in the Polish language and the official conference languages. The procedure for reviewing the articles is in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of 2011 and the indications appearing on the portal Polish Scientific Bibliography (https://pbn.nauka.gov.pl).

The periodical is created in cooperation with the Main Library of the Academy of Physical Education in Katowice, Silesian University Library, the Faculty of Humanities University of Silesia and Research Libraries Section of the Polish Librarians’ Association of the District Board in Katowice.

We invite librarians environment and people involved in library and information science and related fields to co-create the next thematic issues of the journal.
